LESSONS IN LIGHT
Anyone can learn how to work a camera... some begin to understand light and it's vast capabilities... but few become more aware of the subtle, yet powerful energy that exists between one lens and another human being. It's not an automatic function for most. In fact, it can be pretty awkward (maybe you've experienced this). Once you grasp this concept, a photoshoot becomes more like a conversation. It's a story you're telling, and you've learned how to capture it with your own perspective. It's beautiful, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. But the reality is, someone else out there is probably feeling what you're feeling. I doubt it's just someone... more than likely, there are many others that can relate to what you're trying to express through your camera. This is how I do it, anyways. Odds are, that if you've landed on this page and read these words, you probably share this feeling like me. You don't just want to take beautiful photos. You want others to feel moved. You create to inspire.
If you're a photographer wanting to improve your skills and knowledge with fashion and portraiture, this is for you. If you're a model looking to gain experience in a comfortable environment, as well as build your portfolio, this is for you.
Ok, so let's talk about a few details. I'm hosting a half day workshop. In other words... a fun shoot where we all get to play with our cameras and work with a top model. If you're a model joining the group, you'll get positive feedback on how to be more confident and easy to work with in front of the camera. We'll explore some different locations and lighting scenarios around downtown. It will be an urban vibe. I'll be walking you through a typical shoot for me, and what goes on in my head - creatively and technically. I'll cover anything such as camera functions, composition, or even post production and editing. I'm an open book, so any and all questions are welcome! As mentioned before, I'll really be highlighting the energy with the model, and how I (or you) direct them. This is everything. The adventure will start with coffee and conversation, a couple hours of exploring and shooting into golden hour, followed by ice cream after :) All together, it should run around 4 hours.
I'll be working with an experienced model. Throughout the day, you'll have many opportunities to step in my shoes and take some clicks as you see things. Depending on whether or not any additional models sign up, there will be more options for the photographers to shoot around with. If you're a model or thinking about modeling... please join us! This is a perfect place to break the ice. I'll provide models with five high resolution edits after the shoot. The entry price is the same for photographers and models. Last but not least, this is a limited workshop available to the first 10 people who sign up! This will more than likely be my only group workshop for the year. If you're not able to attend this one, I do offer one on one workshops for a higher rate (subject to my availability due to other projects).
